DAY 4 (38)

Migraine Strikes

18th February 2019
This will be a short blog as I am struggling to look at the screen.

My headache has turned into a full blown migraine. If you suffer with these too you will know the pain I am in right now. My right eye can barely open, bright light makes the pain worse and makes me nauseous, heat and moving also make me feel nauseous.

If I were home, I would be laying in a cold dark room sleeping it off, but this is not an option. I have managed to row with a wet towel over my head and dark glasses, I can manage about an hour and a half before needing to lay down again.

Laying down does not bring huge relief as it’s pretty hot in the cabin during the day with no circulating air, and it’s moving. At least now the sun has gone down it’s a little more comfortable, but I am not feeling very good at all. I am keeping everything crossed it passes by the morning as this is not a very nice experience at all.

Sorry it’s a short one and hoping to bring you better news tomorrow.

Hi Dawn, my heart goes out to you, I know how that feels and cannot imagine how much worse it is in a small boat! I hope and pray it passes quickly – I hope it’s already passed by the time I’m typing this and you’re feeling fine again. Then it’s at least out of the way and you should have plain sailing (pardon the pun) ’til the end of your adventure as far as migraines are concerned.
Thinking of you, sending you a smile and hoping you’re already better x 🙂

Dawn your courage continues to astound me. I’ve never had a migraine but I imagine it’s hell and to deal with that in your current effort sounds horrible. I’ve explained to my grandchildren what you’re doing and why and we’re all following you. Keep going and thank you for setting such a fine and noble example to us all!
